Week 48!
11 MONTHS AS A MISSIONARY!
this week was a good week overall! we had some incredible little miracles that helped me re-realize how thankful I am to be a missionary and to be the lords hands in this work!
but a piece of sad news first... we'll get it out of the way...
corina told us she won't be attending church with us. she's the incredible lady who loves the book of mormon, keeps the law of chastity and word of wisdom, usually comes to church for both hours, the whole 9 yards. but she us very involved in her church as well and the pastor had her sign a sort of contract to show that she would be committing to attend all meetings of their church, including one at the same time as ours.. sound a little weird and fishy to me:,) but it was DEVASTATING honestly. I always feel the Spirit so strong in our lessons and I'm afraid we'll have to stop teaching her since she can't progress anymore. please keep her as well as us missionaries in yoir prayers so we can know what to do for her.
in happy news, we had the most INCREDIBLE lesson with Gabe, our first full in person lesson. he soaked up the entire restoration, asked questions, shared experiences.. it was so cool. he is super excited to hear the plan of salvation next! he didn't come to church:( but hopefully he'll come next week.
we also taught an amazing lesson to a lady named Leslie. her relative lives in Carlsbad so the missionaries there met her & she was blown away by the light they carried and the peace she felt from them so she asked to learn more! she lives here in artesia and we were able to teach her! the lesson was a bit all over the place but it was because she had so many questions & was so engaged in getting answers. I shared a bit about my re-conversion story and my relationship with the atonement and it hit home for her. it felt so special to be able to bear my testimony and share experiences in order to help lift someone! she has so much potential so we are super excited about her.
also, sister oliver taught me gin rummy this week & our first time playing I beat her 109-26... she said she doesn't wanna teach me any more card games:,) man I love her she's been such a light to me the last couple weeks.
we've been reading a book during comp study called "worth the wrestle" by sheri dew. it talks all about how important questions are when asked with faith & I think that is so incredible! that's been a common theme in our lessons.. we always try to get our friends to ask questions, to dig deeper. so it should be okay for us to do the same!! James 1:5 applied to joseph smith & it still applies now! that was a really good realization I had this week. I'm glad that I know that God not only tolerates but actually encourages us to ask questions so we can GROW our testimonies!
anyways yall are great... hopefully you made it to the end hahah. HAVE A GR8 WEEK!!
