Week 28!
fun fact about Sister Sanders... one of the goals she has for her mission is to fence, not that sword fighting stuff but like putting up a wood fence. apparently she helped with the one on her family's property and loved it hahah.
DUDE the weather here has been insane. on Tuesday it was sunny, the high was 86 and then 2 days later it was totally overcast and the high was 36... yesterday it was totally calm and sunny in the morning and then at night there was a literal INSANE wind and rain storm... what is texas:,)
this week was a week of little miracles. I think God knew we needed a bit of a boost out here:,)
we had a GREAT Bible study again this week and we met the hosts daughters! one of them shared with me that she was reading about the good Samaritan in her picture book Bible. I challenged her to be a good neighbor to the kids at school that week. the next day her mom sent a video of her telling me about all the people she had helped. I couldn't help but visualize her in 20 years when missionaries knock on her door and she'll remember us from when we talked to her about being a good neighbor after her mom's bible study... little things will make a big impact!
we had a great lesson with a previously taught lady... she lives in a mobile home behind a shack in a SKETCH part of breckenridge. she originally just invited us over to pray with her, said she NEVER has people over because of her living situation, but that she felt strongly that she needed to have us over. we had a REALLY good discussion about God, settled some of her concerns about the church, and gave her the book of mormon read. by the next day, she had finished the chapter we gave her and asked for another one!! INSANE that never happens haha. we're meeting with her again tomorrow and can't wait to hear her thoughts.
in other news, we ate with the Kellers twice this week... one night we had classic Russian food cause they both served in Russia, and then last night we had pulled pork... BEST IVE EVER HAD! finally got that insane texas bbq.
I had a discussion with a member this week.. he was kinda ranting to us about how dysfunctional our branch is and name-calling certain people, saying "man I just wish we could do without church and just focus on the gospel." this got me really thinking... GOOD THING there are people who think and study and pray about these things for us! there was a really good byu speech that I listened to that talked about why we need a church!
so next time you struggle with a bishop, the loud kid screams in the middle of the sacrament, or that one lady gets up to bear her testimony AGAIN... refer to this talk to remind you why the church organization is so vital!
love yall so much! have a great week!
