Week 19!

Week 19!!! Merry late Christmas everyone!!!

Fun fact about Sister Avery... she went to SUU for a year before she came out on her mission, doesn't really wanna go back tho:,)

Christmas miracles are really yall! Remember how I've been having the worst couple weeks with lessons punching and not being able to find new people to teach?.. well it's still hard BUT WE HAD SOME GOOD LESSONS AND FOUND NEW PEOPLE!!

We found Crystal Willis sitting on her porch in 15⁰ weather:,) she had met with missionaries before in El Paso and lost her book of Mormon in the move so we gave her one and shared a verse.
We found Priscilla as well and taught her and her two cute kids the parable of the candy cane! We found out that her husband used to go to our church so he's familiar with us.
We found Teresa on accident by knocking on the wrong door! She invited us in, we shared a Christmas message and the spirit was so strong!
Crystal, Priscilla, and Teresa were all found in the span of 2 hours!! MIRACLE.
The next day, we found Tamara, a lady who's been taught before but not for years. She's super sweet! Shared a Christmas message with her too!
As for lessons, we finally met with Matthew after MONTHS! MIRACLE. It was a great little lesson.
Crystal and John cancelled last minute which is sad cause we were gonna put John on date for baptism with Crystal buuuut THEY CAME TO CHURCH YESTERDAY!! MIRACLE. They loved it. We're meeting with them again tomorrow so pray for them, especially John!

It was weird being away from home for Christmas but I honestly didn't get too homesick. MIRACLE. haha. It was awesome to be here in the city of Lubbock for the holidays though, the members took great care of us and we have a special missionary family bond out here:)

Spiritual thought:
Think about the shepherds in the Christmas story... they were told by an angel that christ was born in Bethlehem right? I'm sure they knew how to get to Bethlehem without special instructions right? But what about to the actual stable?...
Same with the wise men... they knew where he was going to be born and they had a star to guide them... but they didn't make it there for a couple years... how did they know where Jesus lived? Or even if they still lived in Bethlehem those years later?...
These men must've been guided by the spirit! God knew their important roles in the story and knew that they would need guidance to help them make it to their destination. We must also put ourselves in a place where we can be led and guided to our destination! We all have a very important role to play so God wants to help us! I invite you all to think about something you can do better or something you can stop doing to invite the spirit to be stronger in your life!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas:)
