Week 18!
Week 18! It's officially CHRISTMAS WEEK YAY! I also hit 4 months this past week:))
Fun fact about Sister Avery... she has hiked the highest peak in every county in Utah! she even has a blanket with pictures at the top off all of them on it. how sick is that?!
This week waaaaas honestly kinda the worst haha. It felt very unproductive but not cause we didn't have anything planned cause maaaan we did, pretty much everything just cancelled:,) being a missionary is TOUGH sometimes haha.. but I'll share a couple little miracles we had!
We were able to finally get a lesson with Crystal and John this week! Doug also came with us which was perfect, he shared some amazing personal experiences and insights that really helped them. They're still on track for baptism, they know what they have to do, they just need to work through their issues. Pray for them!
We also did some service for a member in our ward, Sister Wilson, the lady that works at the jail. We shared the parable of the candy cane with her (it's cute look it up) and she LOVED it and said she was gonna share it with the inmates at the jail. A couple officers overheard and asked her more questions. Her captain got wind of it and asked her to share it for a staff meeting with all 300 of the officers! 4 of the officers heard the analogy, talked to her about it and where she heard it, and said they want to come with their families to church!! just a simple object lesson is about to touch hundreds of lives and plant hundreds of seeds:))
We've started taking up store contacting which basically means we walk around the Walmart by our apartment, pass out pictures of Jesus, and ask people if they'd be interested in hearing a message. Usually they dont. Sometimes we even ditch that and just try to help people shop or load their groceries but people won't even let us do that. So basically we don't know why we keep feeling like we need to do it so hopefully we see the fruits of that labor as we keep going in faith HAHA.
My spiritual thought is for all the missionaries on here... READ HENRY B EYRINGS TALK CALLED RISE TO YOUR CALL! Its from October 2002 and it is phenomenal. There are 5 main takeaways I got:
1. I am called of God. He knows me and chose me specifically for this place at this time!
2. I am called to respresent the saviors! "Your voice to testify becomes the same as his voice, your hands to lift the same as his hands."
3. My call has eternal consequences for me and those I teach. Thousands will thank me, people I have affected here and in the spirit world!
4. The lord will guide me by revelation and when I obey, answers will come, often through the scriptures!
5. "Just as God called you and will guide you, he will magnify you." I will be attacked and overwhelmed but I am never alone!
Missionary work is hard, it's discouraging, but it is also so rewarding and so fulfilling! It truly is the greatest work we could ever be a part of and it is preparing us for everything we will have to face later in life!
I love yall!! Merry merry Christmas! If you're home, give your families a big hug for me:))
