Week 12!
Week 12 babayyyy!
This week was pretty good! Super busy, which made it go by relatively fast. AND ITS NOVEMBER WHAT how crazy is that...
We decorated for Christmas on November 1st and we've listen to a bit of Christmas music this week... hate if you want but it's made our apartment feel like home soooo:,) one of our friends named Doug gave us some extra Christmas lights and bought us chocolate advent calendars! Since one of us will probably get transfered before December, we decided to do the advent calendars this month, kinda fun.
I decided to take up crocheting this week too and I made a scarf... in like 3 days. I LOVE crocheting now. For all my missionary friends who get bored in the morning and at night, TRY IT it's awesome :,)
We taught an amazing lesson this week! Some other missionaries were teaching a little family but they moved into our ward so were teaching them now... Cota is 6 and he is such a light... he always offers me his food and toys when I go over:,) John is the dad, he grew up Baptist but hasn't been to church in years. Crystal is full blood Native American, North Dakota Sioux I think, so she barely has background with God and none with Jesus Christ. Their faith is so strong, especially Crystals! She loves learning and she's reading through the doctrine and covenants right now to learn more about Joseph Smith. John has a hard time reading but he's OBSESSED with the Book of Mormon videos and he said "its like a soap opera! I have to watch the next one cause I can't wait to see what happens." Pray for them this week if you can!
Sister Adams and i did a lot of service this week. She's great at seeing people's needs and figuring out ways we can help! We made some elders some cookies, helped a member organize her house, and decorated some sisters apartment for Christmas! I feel so much joy when I serve and time flies by on those days. If you're struggling right now whether it's emotionally or spiritually or physically, find a way to serve someone this week! Think outside yourself, even if it's as simple as a text or as elaborate as a surprise lunch or somethin. I promise that as you serve and love others, you will be able to better recognize and feel God's endless love for you!
I started the Book of Mormon over this past week and I was reading in 1 Nephi 2, basically where Lehi told his family that God commanded them to leave, and that's when Laman and Lemuel went crazy murmuring. I realized that Nephi was probably confused and upset too. He was a teenager ish, he probably had friends, a fun life, all that he had to leave behind. Verse 16 of chapter 2 says that Nephi had "great desires to know the mysteries of God," probably meaning he wanted to know what the heck was going on. It says that he "did cry unto the Lord; and behold he did visit me, and did soften my heart..." GUYS. This verse confirmed my theory. Nephi had a bit of a hard heart when his father first told him they had to leave! The difference is, instead of murmuring and fuming with his brothers, he turned his confusion and frustration to God in prayer... THEN God softened his heart. Sometimes we may be in a confused, hurt place where we really just want yell and kick and scream and say "why would you do this, God?" I know that, if you turn your frustrations and concerns to God, whether you're calm or maybe you yell a bit, you will either receive an answer on how to fix whats going on, a reason behind the struggle, or at least a feeling of peace and confirmation that God is in control and that everything will work out. I know God is all powerful, powerful enough even to soften a hard heart:)
Love yall! Hope everyone's week has been great!
