Week 2!
Hello hello beautiful people!!
I'm currently sitting in a computer lab writing this email CAUSE I'M IN THE PROVO MTC!! so wild.... things are getting real man.
I don't even know what to say because there is so much that has happened WOW our days are packed full of spiritual goodness it's crazy.
To start I should shoutout my lovely friend and cousin DANI SORK for picking me up from the airport and hanging out with me before dropping me off here. We got sushi as my "last supper" so I was a happy girl until I had to say goodbye to her... that was sad. but a bunch of missionaries came to greet me at the drop off spot and they were smiling really big and talking really loud and acting super excited... which creeped me out for a sec BUT I realized pretty soon they were acting like that because they LOVE JESUS and they LOVE THE MTC. it was a good energy to start with on day one.
ANOTHER SHOUTOUT I was walking on byu campus before I got dropped off and I SAW MISTA JOHNS what a legend. I am so thankful for all of my friends... shoutout to the byu pals all out on missions or in school you're inspirations to me.
I am loving it here so far. It is so nice to be surrounded by people that have the same goals and are all learning about Jesus... it is like EFY energy but 10000x more spiritual. AND it's also so fun. There's a nice gym here so we have gone to play basketball a couple times which is dope. meal times are also SO FUN! We always sit as a district so we have told some pretty funny stories and I usually leave the table crying because I am laughing so hard. the food is mid... actually maybe even worse than mid. most of the lunch and dinner dishes include some kind of sus looking mystery meat and the eggs at breakfast are the consistency of styrofoam BUT they have a good salad bar and they have creamies at every meal too. Everyone freaks out about the chocolate milk buuuut I drank it all the time at byu so I don't care as much.
It's like a family reunion out here!! I have seen so many people that I know which is so fun... so many people from byu and also from the other places I have lived and visited.
One of our teachers challenged us to say hi to everyone we walked past which was super hard hahah we walk around as a district all saying "HEY SISTERS HEY ELDERS" it is super funny... good prep for when we will street contact in the field.
I also joined the MTC choir along with everyone and their cousin... there are literally 800 people in it... for perspective, the mormon tabernacle choir has 365 people. the director is DOPE he has so many cool insights about the scriptures and he shares a lot of stories. we only sing about half the time and listen half the time.
I know this is only like half of what happened but this is already getting long (pop over to my comps email for more info HAHA) so I'll get into my spiritual thought and then what you're all scrolling for.... the pics:)
We have been talking a lot about the Atonement this week and yesterday, I was studying a related topic... a little bit about GRACE. this was such a confusing topic for me until yesterday but I learned so much!!! OK SO think about your childhood... most of us played sports or took music lessons or something... did you parents pay for those? yes. did they ask you to pay them back? probably not. But because you were thankful for them paying, you practiced. did the practice pay them back? no. but it showed your appreciation! similarly, the savior paid the price for our sins. he doesn't ask us to pay the debt back BUT because we are so thankful for his sacrifice, we owe it to him to show him by practicing (studying, praying, being kind, repenting, etc).
Psalm 84:11 says, "For the Lord God is a sun and a shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."
SO because I love Jesus and I am eternally thankful for his sacrifice for me, I am going to do everything I can to be like him and even when I fall short, rely on his sacrifice and his spirit to help me repent and get better!!
I would LOVE to hear your thoughts about this if you have also studied about it because this is a super interesting topic to me.
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH AND GOD LOVES YOU EVEN MORE YAY!
